Lamp Makeover

We've arrived in Florida!  We love our new apartment and it has been so fun to set everything up and decorate it.  We have lots of windows, which bring in a lot of light.  During the day the apartment feels so bright and cheery.  But in our bedroom we don't have any built in overhead lights, so at night we're in complete darkness!  We knew we needed some lamps, so this last week, I found an old lamp at a thrift store and spruced it up.

This is what it looked like when I bought it.  And even though I liked the beige color, I wanted a white lamp, so I bought white acrylic paint.  Then for the lamp shade, I bought a cheap beige cover at Walmart along with some white silk fabric.

I covered the shade with the fabric and then made small rose decorations to go along the diagonal to cover up the seam from the fabric.  I love how the lamp turned out.  And I especially love how it looks with the palm trees you can see from our window!
